Healthy dhal curry also known as parippu

Parippu also known as dhal curry is a staple in Sri Lanka, we do something called “themparadu” which means, sautéing with oil. You can sauté the onions and make it the typical Sri Lankan way, but if you want to. cut down on the unnecessary fats and just get the dhal tase, then try out my recipe ! you want be sorry !

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups of red lentils

  • 4.5 cups of water

  • Handful of curry leaves

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 2 chopped chillies

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tsp of curry powder

  • 2 cups of pure coconut mik

  • 1-2 tbsp of chilli flakes

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

METHOD

  • In a clay pot or a pan, add everything except coconut milk and salt, cover the pan and cook until lentils are cooked.

  • Add the coconut milk and bring it to a boil, add salt to taste !
